The Castle Museum is a Victorian mansion built in 1892 by B.R. Sherman, an innovative man for his day, and ran by the Meagher County Historical Association. The hilltop landmark overlooking White Sulphur Springs is furnished with antiques and memorabilia from the area, and available via guided tours only. It also includes a carriage house via self-guided tour with an impressive collection of buggies and wagons. The 2026 special exhibit will feature trains of Meagher County and will launch in early June.
The Meagher County Historical Association continues to expand on their events for the 2026 season, including their annual membership meeting, interactive paranormal events, a birthday celebration and guest speaker honoring Thomas Meagher, and the expansion of their Dark Side of the Springs tours in the summer months.
Admission for full-guided tours is $10 for adults, $7.50 for seniors and military/veterans, $6 for children ages 5-17, and ages 4 and under are free. In addition, a new option of the self-guided tour of the Carriage House only has been launched at $6. Pre-arranged group tours as well as educational group tours are available at a reduced rate. The grounds are also available to rent for private events.
The Castle Museum can be found at 310 2nd Avenue Northeast in White Sulphur Springs. They are open beginning Memorial Day Weekend (May 23) through Labor Day (September 7). Hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 10am to 5pm (the last tour begins at 4pm). Monday and Tuesday are by appointment only. Limited out of season tours are also available by appointment only.
