The Musselshell Valley Historical Museum’s Dinosaur Depot will see an exciting new addition in the 2025 season. Sir William, the Teratophoneus, will be added to our collection in June, 2025. This rare Tyrannosaur was discovered in 2001 near Roundup and its reconstructed skull was unveiled in 2024. A full-size skull cast will be on permanent display, as well as information about its excavation, study, and reconstruction. We are excited about this new dinosaur exhibit which will be housed in its own building, showcasing fossils found in the Roundup area.
This specimen is the only known Teratophoneus found in Montana. In addition to Sir William, you can see Aimee and Wilbur the Triceratops, a growing Hadrosaur collection, and other fossils found in and around the Musselshell Valley.
The new diorama shows visitors various significant historical locations throughout Musselshell County.
The surface is painted to realistically represent vegetation, water features and other conditions of the land. The exhibit is interactive with marked locations having graphic display panels on the sides with title and description. By pushing a button on the panel a visitor wishes to identify, the location of that particular point of interest is lit with an LED light embedded in the surface of the topographic display.
The museum is open seven days per week from May through September. Hours of operation are 1 pm until 5 pm. There is no admission fee, however donations are gratefully accepted. Address is 524 First Street West – Roundup, Montana. Contact us at (406)-323-1525, (406)-323- 1662 or at mvhmroundup@outlook.com.
