When you drive through the Little Belt Mountains in Central Montana, you are greeted by small communities that could seem insignificant; but for those who take the time to stop, they show themselves to be alive and vibrant.
Neihart is one of these communities, and their main hub is a small red store with a sign that will have you doing a double take, because it’s called “The Inconvenience Store.” The store has been a fixture in the community since 1941 and has had a number of changes over the years.
The store is now co-op owned with a board of directors and over 250 members all around the country. As the board of directors was deciding the fate of the store, they decided to keep the original structure and update it a little over time. New floors have recently been completed.
The Board of Directors would like to update everyone on some exciting changes at the store. They have hired a new manager. Please stop in and welcome Aaron Perry to the store, who has returned after an 18-year hiatus after helping the previous owners open it back up in 2008. With Aaron joining the team, his son Zach has also started working at the store as well. Please welcome them to the area and thank them both for helping fill positions at the store. This was very needed for the community to be ready for the summer season. With this exciting news they are also going back to being open seven days a week. On Mondays and Tuesdays, they are back open for the summer season.
The community continues to be very supportive helping with the Sunday morning brunch they still have every first Sunday of the month, every Saturday evening they have the pot-luck right outside the store, Rain or Shine. The Raffle is a BIG event with so many wonderful prizes given away on Labor Day weekend. They have an electric scooter, and an electric bike here in the store that will be in the raffle on display. There is a silent Auction as well as a Live Auction Labor Day weekend, food and the rubber duck race of course. The only inconvenience in the Inconvenience store is you not being there.
For the 4th of July there will be a parade, Fireworks, and a Celebration of 250 years as a Country under God with liberty and justice for all.
