“A celebration of agriculture and our Montana lifestyle!” January 23-24, 28-31
The 71st Montana Winter Fair is a great excuse to get out and enjoy the exhilaration of learning, being entertained, shopping, competing, and socializing in historic Lewistown, the heart of Montana!
This January’s fair will feature several new and exciting events to add to the already diverse variety of participation and spectator opportunities. On January 23-24, the first-ever, 6-city ice skating tournament will take place, hosted by the Lewistown Ice Skating Association at their new ice skating facility at Frank Day Park. Scott Kirsch is the tournament director (406-366-0755, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Also new this year is a Natural Horsemanship Clinic, of “Road to the Horse” fame. This clinic for horse lovers and equestrians is on January 29 at the Central Montana Fairgrounds Pavilion.
The 5-steps to improving body control plus explanations and demonstrations for developing horse and rider basics will be presented by national equestrian expert James Cooler. Registration is limited to 12 riders with their saddle- broke horses, able to walk, trot, and lope. Chris Cooler is the superintendent for this event (406-538-2200, email@example.com).
If you don’t have a horse, you can bring your dog to the Trade Center on January 29 at 4pm for the American Kennel Club “Canine Good Citizen Challenge Course,” followed by a rollicking fashion show for your mutt! Debbie Larson, dog breeder, AKC competitor, and expert groomer, is the superintendent for this new event (406-535-8320, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Not to be missed this year is the Friday Night Concert at 7:30pm at the Grand Hall of The Eagles, starring the popular IDLE RANCH HANDS from Missoula. This classic country and honky-tonk band brings back the songs of George Jones, Merle Haggard, Lefty Frizzel, and Buck Owens. Tickets at $15 are available at Don’s Store in Lewistown and online at MontanaWinterFair.com.
A quick trip to MontanaWinterFair.com will provide a complete listing of all the events, logistic details, and contact information for the other 20+ happenings at the fair.
