The county fair tradition is woven into the fabric of nearly every American community. It presents opportunities for young people to foster life skills such as communication, leadership, goal setting, work ethic, responsibility, and sportsmanship. Community service and volunteer leadership are at the root of the success of the county fair. Generations of community leaders have been born out of the ideologies instilled in their youth and their families through involvement in 4-H and FFA clubs that furnishes a legacy of volunteer service and youth development; renewing leadership to the local community and beyond.

Rooted in tradition, Growing with Fun, the 113th Chouteau County Fair will take place August 14-17 at the Chouteau County Fairgrounds in Fort Benton. The annual event is the hallmark of summer fun with thrilling carnival rides, food, exhibits, adventure zone, bouncy houses, bumper boats, water slides and great entertainment every evening.

There will be an ongoing silent auction of 4-H and FFA items throughout the fair that starts Friday and ends at 4:45pm Sunday. Shop in the commercial building and enjoy lots of good food at the concessions. Have fun at the Midway Amusements and Carnival. Enjoy the livestock shows and more!

Thursday evening the fair events kick off with pig wrestling at 6pm where wrestling teams go hog wild getting down and dirty in the muddy competition.

Friday at 6pm, don’t miss the first and best Truck and Tractor Pull in Montana. Tractor pulling has become one of the most powerful motorsports in America, where antique or modified engines pull a sled containing heavy metal plates and try to go as far as it can within the marked route.

Saturday is the event that many Montana drivers & fans have been waiting for all year. The extremely popular vehicular mayhem-bumper- smashing demolition derby that has you on the edge of your seat begins at 6pm.
Sunday, don’t miss the 4-H and FFA livestock auction at 2pm and at 4:30pm the Chili Cookoff begins in the Bingo Building. Think your chili is the hottest in Chouteau County? Bring a full pot for our blind tastetest and let the crowd crown the champion!

Plan to stay a few days at the Chouteau County Fairgrounds which offer RV/ Camp Trailer sites, and Tent Camping sites surrounded by shade and mature trees. Men’s and women’s restrooms are within walking distance from all sites. An RV dump station is also available on the main Fairgrounds property.

The Chouteau County Fair is a tradition you won’t want to miss; it is a celebration of our community’s heritage and spirit bringing families together to share the joy of this time-honored tradition.
