Jim Buti & Janet Moczar-Buti, Observation Point
By Hayley Young
More than two decades ago a group of regional artists got together and decided to host an art show. They adopted the name the Wild Bunch after the wild men and women like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid who holed up in this area of the state. This year marks the 23rd annual gathering of the Wild Bunch. Nine artists will gather at their “hideout” in Glasgow, Montana on September 19 and 20.
This group of local and regional artists will bring a wide variety of art that will be sure to satisfy everyone. During this year’s show, the Wild Bunch Art Show will have artwork that includes canvas painting as well as several other mediums varying from landscape, woodcarvings, glass art, original jewelry, paintings on several surfaces including rocks and agates, pottery, wildlife images, and of course images of the old West.
The Wild Bunch has become known for offering high-quality art that tips its hat to the region and its history. But the artists are also “homegrown” folks who are friendly and personable. They set up the art show to reflect that same inviting hospitality. Visitors will experience a unique art gallery-like setting that will allow visitors and artists to chat about the art and the artist.
So, don’t let middle of nowhere fool you. The Wild Bunch Art Show is sure to offer a show that is not only pleasing to the eye but also the heart. Wild Bunch artist Connie Tveten, “urges” everyone to attend the show.
The Wild Bunch Art Show will be located at the Cottonwood Inn & Suites in Glasgow on September 19 from 5 pm – 8 pm and again on Saturday September 20 from 9:30 am – 7 pm.
