On a day filled with the sweeping Montana wind, a wind that carried emotions ranging from heartfelt tears to warm laughter, the Montana Wall of the Fallen Tow Operator Memorial (dedicated in September 2025 in Three Forks), stood as a powerful testament to their brotherhood. This sacred site is an expression of profound love and enduring memory for those often called the “forgotten first responders.” It honors the heartbreaking sacrifice of tow truck operators who died serving their communities: Curtis Macey 7/10/1995, Donald Rooster Gordon 1/14/2015, Casey Allen 10/25/2020, Nick Visser 10/25/2020, and Wayne Roth 10/21/2021.

The heart of the memorial is a stunning bronze eagle, a masterpiece sculpted by artist Mary Michael. Every detail reflects the dedication and spirit of the towing community.

As board members Scott Wolff, Lori Tribble, Spencer Hanser, Jay Richards, Brandon Turney, Dennis Frownfelter, Terry Morrison, Jim Dusenberry, and Don Blyton, Jr. gathered, they emphasized that this memorial is a powerful, loving reminder that tow operators, just like all first responders, risk their lives daily. The board was determined to create the first state memorial in the nation for tow operators. The essential, life- saving message it conveys is simple and urgent: Slow Down and Move Over for all roadway workers.

The whole memorial honors all responders with placards leading to the main memorial. The commitment to this memorial is felt across borders, with the towing community’s deep support, even from dedicated sponsors like Ed Chartrand from Edmonton, Canada.

Though the site is built and stands proudly, the Montana Tow Truck Association (MTTA) now turns to the public for help to nurture and secure this lasting tribute.

The current needs are critical for preservation and longevity: funding for security cameras and lighting, general maintenance and long- term care, and covering the high annual insurance costs that protect this precious treasure.

Your donations are a vital gift, securing the future of this site, protecting the memories of the fallen, and promoting public safety education for generations to come. You can contribute in the following ways:
