As a 16-year-old in La Porte, Indiana, Birdi Kribs dreamed of having a store full of imaginative and creative treasures. Years later, after moving to Montana in 2003 to be near her daughter, Birdi’s dream came true. In 2011, she opened The Bird’s Nest, an eclectic emporium in downtown Townsend.

“When I first got here, I wanted to meet people so I started selling some things of mine, then I did some consignments and now I have what’s become a place for people to gather—not just to buy, but to talk,” she says.

The store features antiques and collectibles, homemade breads, candies, jams and jellies, candles, jewelry, wellness products, and Montana-made leather goods. It also offers farm- fresh eggs and raw A2/A2 milk.

“We recently opened our Wellness Room, featuring some of our most popular items which we create—herbs and tinctures, handcrafted soaps and essential oils. We also give classes to teach others how to grow their own herbs,” she says.

Visitors to the store often leave reviews: “We love this place. So much good stuff and the prices are right. Lovely on all fronts.”

The Bird’s Nest is open Monday thru Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm at 125 S. Pine Street in Townsend. Find us on Facebook or call at 406.266.1335.
