New year, same great rodeo!
The 2023 Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit (MPRC) Finals showcases the best cowboys and cowgirls who have qualified and entered the 44th event. Nearly all of these athletes have full-time jobs, with rodeo being a passion. Somehow, they find time to practice their skills, enter professional rodeos all over the state, and make it to the top 12 in the Montana Circuit.
“The circuit system is set up for the weekend warriors,” explains Circuit Finals President Jack Stensland, of the working cowboys and cowgirls who will be competing in the arena.
That isn’t to downplay their talent. Stensland is quick to point out the achievements of this year’s MPRC contenders. In fact, nine of the Montana Circuit athletes competed in the National Finals Rodeo in December 2022.
“Joey Williams won 2022 Horse of the Year at NFR. Cadee Williams [no relation] won the NFR breakaway roping average,” Stensland cites as two examples.
New to the Circuit Finals this year, all three nights will feature breakaway. Stensland believes attendees will be excited by this development, and they should also be happy to learn that the price of admission has remained the same.
“Even though the price of everything else in the world is going up, we decided to keep tickets the same price as they were,” he says. “We feel that we need to take care of our fans.”
The Montana Pro Rodeo Family has once again proven that there’s truly no sport like rodeo!
