Ann McCormick-Clark found herself sitting in front of a map one evening in 2007, drawing lines from her store to every place she knew her store was currently serving customers.
She drew more lines covering where all her friends and family lived. As she sat back and admired her little work of art, lines streaming out all over the United States, it all originated at one dot: Northtown Drug.
Northtown Drug is a full-service pharmacy located in Shelby, owned and operated by McCormick-Clark since 2007. It provides a wide array of pharmaceutical services, ranging from prescriptions, long-term care, assisted living, memory care, and correctional facilities, accepting most commercial insurance and Medicare plans. They provide medical supplies, wheelchairs, walkers, knee scooters, support stockings, and much more.
In addition, they offer a shake and smoothie bar, daily soups and sandwiches, as well as a wide range of giftware, over- the-counter medicines, wellness and beauty products, office supplies, beer and wine, greeting cards, and a photo kiosk.
McCormick-Clark, a Cut Bank native, supported herself through college as a phlebotomist and lab assistant before earning her degree in Pharmacy. She worked in a variety of settings, including hospital, clinic, and retail before diving into ownership. She started with Northtown Drug, and in 2019 opened Glacier Pharmacy in Cut Bank. Glacier offers similar services, minus the smoothie bar, including a drive- thru service that comes in handy during those bitter cold winter months on the hi-line. She reflects, “I believe rural small businesses are the backbone of this country. Having the opportunity to provide for customers, employ families, and support my communities through pharmacy has been a very rewarding career choice for me.”
