Nearly everyone knows someone impacted by cancer. For nineteen years, the Chouteau County Cancer Support Group has been supporting those with a cancer diagnosis and preventing cancer through education. When our group confirms with someone that they have a diagnosis, we provide information about our support and confirm that they do not have to make this journey through treatment alone.
We give everyone treating cancer a quilt, donated by the Eye of The Needle Quilt Guild. Cancer patients report that the beautiful quilts remind them that they are wrapped in the caring thoughts of the community.
We also provide monetary stipends to every county resident treating cancer. All individual and organizational donations go directly to residents. Our administrative expenses are paid through grants from the Lippard Clawiter Foundation. We are extremely thankful to those who donate and who help fundraise for our mission!
To reduce your risk of cancer, take care of your physical and mental wellbeing. Get annual medical checkups, eat healthy foods, exercise, use sunscreen, stay hydrated, and positively manage stress and anxiety.
Throughout the year we offer opportunities for people to gather, learn, celebrate, and find support. We host soup suppers, no-host lunches, Valentine and Thanksgiving gatherings, and an annual campfire picnic. Our December luminary Torch Tribute is a meaningful way to have a light shine in memory of or in honor of someone you care about.
The Chouteau County Cancer Support Group is committed to reducing the number of cancer diagnoses and the stress associated with a cancer diagnosis. If you wish to support our mission, please mail donations to P.O. Box 213, Fort Benton, MT 59442.
Please encourage anyone with a cancer diagnosis to reach out to us so we can ensure they have the support they need.
