“Marian Hills is a gem. People are surprised to find something this great here,” says golf course superintendent Cory Shelhamer.

Just one mile south of Malta, Marian Hills Golf Course provides great opportunities for such a small community. One of the great things about golf is that it is a sport accessible to all ages. It gives children something to do in an area with limited activities for young people, and it’s a fun pastime they can cherish for a lifetime.

Along with being accessible, Marian Hills is an exceptional course. “This course was designed by an expert. The layout
was ahead of its time,” says Shelhamer. The 9-hole link-style course includes thirty sand traps, seven lakes, 80,000 square feet of putting service, and four sets of tees. Each hole is its own property with its own unique atmosphere. It is the type of course that purists appreciate but even the most novice player can enjoy.

Marian Hills also features a putting green and three-tier, ten acre driving range, but what really sets it apart from other courses in Montana is having the Tin Cup Bar & Grill located at its center. The course starts and ends at the Tin Cup with the course winding back to the center every few holes. This allows golfers to make pit stops with ease. And because the facility has large windows, spectators at the Tin Cup can witness a lot of the course action without leaving their seats.

“The Tin Cup is a great place for people to come for food and social gathering,” says Jane Ereaux, owner of Marian Hills. “The place has a very friendly atmosphere.” The bar & grill features food and drink specials, a casino, a pool table, dart boards, and big screen TVs. It is a popular location for events such as weddings, holiday parties, and of course, golf tournaments.

Ereaux and Shelhamer are always pleased to hear compliments from tournament participants and visitors new to the course. “We hear compliments all the time,” says Shelhamer. “If you love golf, you’ll love this course.”
