Gold mining gave birth to the town of Zortman. Visitors can still pan for gold today.
The Little Rocky Mountains present many opportunities for hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, and photography. There are also ATV and hiking trails.
Every fall, locals and visitors travel approximately 18 miles southwest of Zortman to Slippery Ann Wildlife Viewing Area to watch the annual elk mating ritual. Hundreds of elk travel to this spot each year to participate in the rut.
